Hofstra 78, Delaware 62
Desure Buie scored 27 points and Eli Pemberton added 15 and Hofstra won its eighth consecutive game, getting past Delaware 78-62 on Saturday to clinch at least a share of the CAA title.
Isaac Kante and Tareq Coburn each added 11 points for the Pride (22-7, 13-3 CAA). Coburn also grabbed eight rebounds and matched Buie and Pemberton with three 3-pointers. Buie also had nine assists and six rebounds while Pemberton had nine boards.
Hofstra was 10 of 22 behind the 3-point line and 14 of 36 inside and went 20 of 23 behind the foul line.
Northeastern 77, Drexel 68
Jordan Roland scored 25 points as Northeastern beat Drexel 77-68 on Saturday. With the win, Northeastern clinched a series sweep of the Dragons.
Shaquille Walters had 16 points for Northeastern (14-14, 8-8 Colonial Athletic Association), which broke its five-game road losing streak. Maxime Boursiquot added 10 points and eight rebounds. Bolden Brace also had 10 points.
With two games remaining in the CAA regular season, Northeastern owns a 1.5 game lead on seventh-place Elon.
Camren Wynter had 20 points for the Dragons (13-16, 6-10 CAA), whose losing streak reached five games. James Butler added 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. T.J. Bickerstaff had seven rebounds.
Northeastern made 22-of-25 free throws to 7-of-12 for Drexel.
Towson 84, Elon 71
Jason Gibson and Brian Fobbs scored 19 points apiece as Towson topped Elon 84-71 on Saturday, completing a season sweep of the Phoenix.
With the win, Towson (17-12, 10-6 CAA) clinch a 1
st round bye in the CAA Championship. Nakye Sanders added 14 points for the Tigers, while Nicolas Timberlake and Allen Betrand each had 12. Fobbs also had seven rebounds.
Marcus Sheffield II had 18 points for the Phoenix (11-19, 7-10 CAA). Simon Wright added 13 points. Hunter Woods had 11 points and seven rebounds.
William & Mary 78, James Madison 74
Luke Loewe had a career-high 27 points as William & Mary narrowly defeated James Madison 78-74 on Saturday.
Loewe shot 10-for-11 from the floor, including 6-of-7 from deep.
Nathan Knight had 12 points and four assists for William & Mary (20-10, 12-5 CAA), which won its fourth consecutive game. Bryce Barnes added 12 points.
Matt Lewis had 18 points for the Dukes (9-18, 2-14 CAA), who have now lost five games in a row. Deshon Parker added 13 points. Darius Banks had 12 points and six assists.
With one game remaining in the regular season, William & Mary sits 1.5 games behind Hofstra for first place in the CAA.
UNCW 68, Charleston 55
UNCW opened the second half on a 13-3 run and held off Charleston the remainder of the game en route to a 68-55 win at Trask Coliseum on Saturday.
UNCW (9-20, 4-12, CAA) complete a season sweep of Charleston (15-13, 9-7 CAA) with the win. Ty Gadsden had five of his 13 points during the game-changing run, while Mike Okauru had four of his team-high 17 points during the run.
The Seahawks outscored Charleston, 34-23, in the second half, holding the Cougars to 22.6-percent shooting in the game’s final 20 minutes.
The loss dropped Charleston into fifth place in the CAA with two games remaining in the regular season.
Marten Linssen recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Shykeim Phillips rounded out four Seahawks in double figures with 10 points, adding five assists.
A game after his 54-game streak with 10 or more points was snapped, Grant Riller led all scorers with 19 points. Riller climbed into fourth place on the CAA career scoring list, passing Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman and Richmond’s Jonny Newman with 1,399 career points.
