#CAAHoops Preview: Drexel Men's Basketball
Miles McQuiggan
RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 13, 2021) – The champs are back.
With the return of first-team All-CAA guard
Camren Wynter and third-team forward
James Butler, the Drexel men’s basketball program enters this season with a title it has not previously held in its time in the Colonial Athletic Association: defending CAA champions.
Drexel’s run from the 6-seed to the conference crown in March included wins over two of the top three teams in the CAA standings – a place the Dragons have aspirations to finish this March with another year of Wynter (16.3 ppg, 5.2 apg) and Butler (12.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg) in University City.
Mate Okros, the Dragons’ leading scorer in the CAA title game, is also back in Philadelphia this winter.
Zach Spiker regains the services of
Coletrane Washington, who missed last season due to injury, and welcomes in a pair of scoring grad transfers in
Melik Martin and
Trevion Brown.
The non-conference slate is highlighted by a Sunday night showdown at Syracuse on November 14 and a three-game trip to the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in the Bahamas the week of Thanksgiving.
