RICHMOND, Va. (October 18, 2021) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 7 of the 2021 season. Stony Brook junior running back Ty Son Lawton received Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Towson senior linebacker Christian Dixon was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. James Madison senior kicker Ethan Ratke was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Maine freshman quarterback Derek Robertson was named Rookie of the Week.
 
CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Ty Son Lawton, Jr., RB, Stony Brook (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis)
 
Lawton rushed 22 times for a career-high 192 yards and two touchdowns in Stony Brook’s 34-17 victory over No. 14 Delaware. The junior broke loose for a 99-yard TD run on his first carry of the game, setting a new SBU record and tying a CAA mark. It was the third consecutive 100+-yard rushing performance for Lawton, who leads the CAA and ranks 6th in FCS with 736 yards.
 
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Christian Dixon, Sr., LB, Towson (Charlotte, N.C./Butler)
 
Dixon set career-highs with 11 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, and also forced a fumble in Towson’s 28-7 win over No. 12 Rhode Island. The senior linebacker’s forced fumble set up a Tigers’ touchdown in the first quarter. Dixon led a Towson defense that held URI to just 162 total yards and gave up single-digit points to a conference opponent for the first time since 2016.

CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Ethan Ratke, Sr., PK, James Madison (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee)

Ratke tied his career-high and a JMU record with four field goals as James Madison topped Richmond, 19-3. The senior connected on field goals of 23, 32, 24 and 26 yards and accounted for 13 of the Dukes’ 19 points. Ratke, who moved into 5th place on the FCS career points list (457), has made a field goal in 27 straight games.

CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Derek Robertson, Fr., QB, Maine (Yonkers, N.Y./Iona Prep)
 
Robertson completed 20-of-40 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns as Maine beat William & Mary, 27-16, to snap the Tribe’s four-game win streak. It was the second 200+-yard passing effort for the freshman, who set career-highs for completions and TD passes. Robertson also added 25 rushing yards on three carries.
