CAA Welcomes Karlie Smith As Director of Digital Engagement And Social Promotion

RICHMOND, Va. (October 28, 2021) – Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner Joe D’Antonio has announced the hiring of Karlie Smith as Director of Digital Engagement and Social Promotion.
In her new role at the CAA, Smith will be involved in all aspects of the conference’s video production department, including on-air work. She will also assist and create content for the conference’s social media outlets.
Smith brings a variety of experience in the television industry to the CAA. She worked as an Operations Manager for the NFL on FOX for the past two years, traveling to games each week and working behind the scenes to make sure the broadcasts went smoothly. Smith also worked in operations during Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball contests on FOX, including the Field of Dreams game in Iowa last summer.
Along with her operations experience, Smith has done significant on-air work. Since 2018, she has served in play-by-play, analyst and sideline reporting roles on SEC Network+ for softball, volleyball and other sports. She also worked as a digital production assistant at the University of Georgia for two years and interned at WNCT-TV in Greenville, N.C.
In addition to her television work, Smith is a content creator and part of the leadership team for A Seat At The Table, a community of women in sports and entertainment who are giving back to their communities and mentoring the next generation.
Smith graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University in 2018 with a degree in journalism. She was a four-year starter for the East Carolina softball team.
