William & Mary Wins Conference-Leading 28th CAA Men’s Cross Country Title; Northeastern’s Alexander Korczynski Claims Individual Title

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 30, 2021) – William & Mary claimed its conference-leading 28
th Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning. Alexander Korczynski of Northeastern won the individual title, marking the first Huskie athlete to conquer the feat since 2011.
William & Mary scored 28 points to reclaim the team title after a runner-up finish during the spring championship. Northeastern finished second with 39 points, while Elon came in third, scoring 83 points. Hofstra, Charleston and UNCW rounded out the men’s team standings.
William & Mary placed six runners in the top ten to claim its 21
st CAA Championship over the previous 22 seasons. Samuel Pritchard was the top Tribe finisher, placing second with a time of 25:06.20. Jacob Jones followed, placing third with a time of 25:06.40. Spencer Tsai earned All-CAA honors for the third consecutive season after a sixth-place finish (25:17.10). Andrew Lagattuta (25:28.10), Tyler Lipps (25:29.10), and Patrick North (25:35.90) also recorded top-ten finishes, placing eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
Alexander Korczynski was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the meet after becoming just the third Northeastern student-athlete in program history to win the individual title. Korczynski finished in a time of 25:01.20 to lead four Huskies, earning All-CAA honors. Matthew Schaefer took fourth (25:06.70) for his second straight all-conference accolades. Benjamin Godish (25:24.70) and Patrick Cullen (24:51.10) placed seventh and 12
th, respectively, to round out the top Northeastern finishers.
Elon placed three runners in the top 20, led by all-conference honoree Aidan Tierney, who finished 11
th (25:36.70). It is the third consecutive season earning All-CAA honors for Tierney.
Hofstra had a top-5 individual finisher as Zach Van Houten placed fifth in a time of 25:08.60. The freshman earns All-CAA accolades in his first CAA Championship competition.
