CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards – Nov. 22

RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 22, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced its women’s basketball weekly awards following the second week of the 2021-22 season. Delaware’s Jasmine Dickey was named CAA Player of the Week, while Grace Abercrombie collected CAA Rookie of the Week honors for the second time in as many weeks.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jasmine Dickey, Delaware
Senior | Guard / Forward | Baltimore, Md. / Catonsville
Dickey led Delaware to three wins in seven days averaging 31.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The senior guard/forward scored over 30 points in all three contests, including her second double-double of the season with 32 points and 10 rebounds against Delaware State. She added four assists and one block in Delaware’s 79-48 victory over the Hornets. Dickey began the week scoring a season-high 32 points with eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals as the Blue Hens defeated Maine 83-60. She capped an impressive week, leading Delaware to a 73-57 win over Charlotte, scoring a game-high 31 points in addition to six rebounds, one assist and one steal. Dickey leads the CAA in scoring (25.8 ppg) and ranks third in the NCAA.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Grace Abercrombie, Charleston
Freshman | Wing | Jacksonville, Texas / Jacksonville HS
Abercrombie poured in a season-high 25 points, leading Charleston to a come from behind win over Norfolk State 66-62 and stay undefeated on the year. The Freshman wing was instrumental in the Cougars’ comeback effort, scoring nine of 18 points in an 18-2 run that gave Charleston the lead. Abercrombie connected on five-of-11 attempts from behind the three-point line, adding six rebounds and four steals in the effort. The Jacksonville, Texas native leads the CAA in three-point field goals per game (3.33) and ranks fourth in three-point field goal percentage (45.5%).
