Miles McQuiggan
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 30, 2021) – Hofstra senior forward
Miri Taylor was selected as a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. Taylor was selected as one of 15 players on the women's side.
Taylor gives Hofstra and the Colonial Athletic Association a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist for the second year in a row and third time in the last seven years.
Lucy Porter earned the honor last season, while Leah Galton was named to the list in 2015.
Taylor posted a magnificent senior campaign which saw her earn CAA Attacking Player of the Year accolades as well as All-CAA honors for the fourth-straight year. Taylor also garnered USC All-East Region honors for the third time after topping the Hofstra single-season points list with 45. Taylor scored 17 goals and added 11 assists this fall, with her goal total tying for second all-time in a single season at Hofstra. Taylor scored at least one point in 19 of 22 matches this past season.
On the national level, Taylor ranks second in total points, third in points per game, fourth in total goals, and fifth in goals per game.
Three women's finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 8 in conjunction with the Women's College Cup in Santa Clara, Calif. The 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 7, 2022 to formally announce this year's winners.
