RICHMOND, Va. (Mar. 16, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced Delaware’s Femke Strien as the CAA Player of the Week while Kaiya Towsend Sabur, of Towson, was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

In the Blue Hens season-opener, Strien scored a goal on six shots and assisted on another to account for three points despite Delaware eventually falling 3-2 to Saint Joseph’s in overtime. Strien got the Blue Hens on the board in the second period scoring the first goal of the game for either team. After Saint Joseph’s tied the game in the third, Strien assisted on an Ellie Schepens goal as Delaware regained a 2-1 lead in the fourth period, but just one minute and 16 seconds later the Hawks tied the game at two and forced an overtime period.

In her first collegiate game, Towsend Sabur scored one goal on one shot in the Tiger’s season-opening game against Syracuse. Towsend Sabur’s goal in the first period cut the Orange lead to 1 and allowed the Tigers to tie the game 2-2 in the second period. However, Syracuse would take regain the lead just before the half and win the game 3-2.
