CAA Field Hockey Weekly Awards – Mar. 30
RICHMOND, Va. (Mar. 30, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced Towson’s Lena Vandam as field hockey’s Player of the Week while William & Mary’s Jayden Moon received CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lena Vandam, Towson
Graduate | Goal Keeper | Antwerp, Belgium / Sint-Michielscollege
Vandam played all 60-minutes in goal for the Tigers as they defeated Northeastern for the first time since 2011 and for the first time in program history on the Huskie’s turf. The win marked the first CAA conference win for Towson on the road since 2011. In goal, Vandam faced 13 shots, recording four saves and only allowing one goal. The graduate-student has posted a .800 or better save percentage in three of her first four games this spring and leads the CAA with 6.25 saves per game.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jayden Moon, William & Mary
Freshman | Forward | Spotsylvania, Va. / Riverbends HS
Moon picked up her first career point in William & Mary’s first CAA win of the season against Drexel. The freshman forward had two shots and picked up an assist in the match. Moon set up her teammate, assisting on a Lily Saunders goal in the second period to put the Tribe ahead 2-0. William & Mary would go on to win by a score of 2-1.
