RICHMOND, Va. (April 15, 2021) – Unbeaten and nationally ranked Hofstra received four of the six top individual honors as the 2020 CAA women’s soccer postseason awards were announced on Thursday. Hofstra forward Sabrina Bryan was named the CAA Attacking Player of the Year for the second straight season, while the Pride’s Lucy Porter repeated as CAA Midfielder of the Year. Hofstra’s Anja Suttner won Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row and Simon Riddiough was named CAA Coach of the Year for the fourth time. UNCW freshman Blair Barefoot was voted the CAA Goalkeeper of the Year and CAA Rookie of the Year.

Bryan turned in another outstanding year for one of the nation’s top offensive teams. The senior forward led the conference with 25 points on seven goals and a league-high 11 assists. She currently ranks second nationally in points per game and first in assists per game. Bryan tallied at least four points in half of Hofstra’s matches.

Porter also posted huge numbers offensively, topping the conference with 10 goals and adding four assists for 24 points. She scored multiple goals four times this season, including a hat trick in the regular-season finale vs. Towson. Porter ranks third nationally in points per game and goals per game.

Suttner played a key role for a Hofstra defense that surrendered just eight goals in eight matches and held opponents to an average of only 4.5 shots per game. The sophomore also contributed offensively with three goals, including a game-winner.

Barefoot earned Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year accolades after an impressive year in net for UNCW. The freshman ranked third in the conference with 0.97 GAA and posted a .793 save percentage after making 23 stops. In four conference matches, she surrendered just two total goals and recorded two shutouts.

Riddiough was voted the CAA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season and the fourth time overall. Hofstra was unbeaten this year with a 7-0-1 mark and finished atop the North Division with a 3-0-1 record. The Pride, which is currently ranked 23rd in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, outscored opponents 32-8.

Six different Pride players were named to the All-CAA teams, including Bryan, Porter, Suttner and Miri Taylor, all of whom were named to All-CAA First Team.

UNCW also placed four players on the first team. Barefoot was joined by Seahawk teammates Audrey Harding, Morgan Nanni and Talia Parrous on the squad.

Northeastern had three players on the first team with forward Chelsea Domond, midfielder Alexis Legowski and defender Mikenna McManus.

The 2020 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship presented by Primis kicks off with a pair of semifinal matches on Thursday. Hofstra faces Elon at 4 p.m., followed by UNCW against Northeastern at 7 p.m. The two winners advance to the championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
