CAA Football Announces Game Times For 2021 Season
Rob Washburn
RICHMOND, Va. (June 9, 2021) – CAA Football has announced game times for all of the conference contests during the 2021 season as well as home non-conference matchups.
After switching to a divisional scheduling format due to CoVID-19 protocols during the unique 2021 spring season, CAA Football returns to its traditional format this fall. The conference slate features four home games and four road games for each team as they face eight of the other 11 CAA Football members. This year’s schedule has been configured to reduce travel, especially in regards to flights.
Conference play kicks off Thursday, September 2 as Maine hosts Delaware and Stony Brook entertains New Hampshire. There is at least one conference matchup during all 12 weeks, including a full slate of six league games on October 23 and November 20.
The non-conference schedule features 12 games against FBS opponents. Seven of those contests are against teams from Power 5 leagues, with four versus the ACC (Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech), two against the Big Ten (Rutgers and Penn State) and one versus the Pac 12 (Oregon). CAA Football has won at least one game against FBS foes in 14 of the past 18 years.
There are also several non-conference matchups against top FCS competition. UAlbany and Towson will both face perennial FCS power North Dakota State and James Madison visits reigning Big Sky champion Weber State. CAA teams were 30-9 (.769) against non-conference FCS foes in 2019, which was the best of any league.
Game times for the remaining non-conference road games will be announced by each individual institution as they are determined.
