HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Aug. 19, 2021) – Hofstra women's soccer midfielder Lucy Porter collected a pair of national preseason honors in advance of the season's opening weekend, as she was named a first-team Preseason All-America selection by College Soccer News on Wednesday and earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List on Thursday.

Porter, the two-time defending CAA Midfielder of the Year and preseason pick for the same award, returns to Hofstra for her fifth season after leading Hofstra with 10 goals last spring. Prior to Hofstra's shortened season, Porter set a single-season program record with 40 points in 2019 via 16 goals and eight assists.

The two-time United Soccer Coaches All-America honoree has amassed 41 goals and 16 assists, totaling 98 points during her time at Hofstra thus far. She enters the season ranked the No. 9 best player in the nation according to the Top Drawer Soccer Top-100 rankings.

Hofstra was selected as the unanimous preseason CAA favorite in a vote of the conference's head coaches. The Pride is in action along with eight other CAA teams Thursday on the opening day of the college women's soccer season.
