MINNEAPOLIS (August 4, 2021) – William & Mary men’s basketball alum Nathan Knight has signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and will play for Minnesota in the upcoming NBA Summer League.

Knight inked a deal with Minnesota after appearing in 33 regular-season games for the Atlanta Hawks in his rookie season. The 2020 Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year scored in double figures four times on the year, including a pair of 15+ point efforts in back-to-back wins over Cleveland and Houston in March. Knight appeared in six playoff games for the Hawks, including four contests against Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Knight earned both CAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2020. He scored 2,141 career points, good for 13th in CAA history, and ranks ninth in career blocks and 13th in rebounding. Knight was a three-time All-CAA honoree after garnering all-rookie honors as a freshman.

The last two CAA Players of the Year will team up in Las Vegas for the Timberwolves’ NBA Summer League team, as Knight will be joined by James Madison alum Matt Lewis, who signed an undrafted free agent contract in July. Minnesota will open Summer League competition on August 9 against San Antonio.
