JMU And Villanova Ranked Among Top Eight In Final 2021 FCS Polls

RICHMOND, Va. (January 10, 2022) – James Madison and Villanova were ranked among the top eight teams nationally as the final FCS Top 25 polls for the 2021 season were released on Monday.
James Madison (12-2) was ranked No. 3 in the Stats Perform and AFCA Coaches polls. The Dukes advanced to the semifinals of the FCS playoffs for the fifth time in six years after defeating Southeastern Louisiana (59-20) and Montana (28-6), but suffered a narrow 20-14 setback to eventual national champion North Dakota State.
Villanova (10-3) finished at No. 8 in both the Stats Perform and AFCA Coaches polls. The Wildcats beat Holy Cross, 21-16, to reach the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the first time since 2014, but dropped a 35-21 decision to South Dakota State.
Rhode Island (7-4) was among other teams receiving votes in both polls, while
Elon (6-5) received votes in the AFCA Coaches poll.
