Eight CAA Football Student-Athletes Selected To FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team

RICHMOND, Va. (January 12, 2022) – CAA Football led all conferences with eight student-athletes honored on the 2021 Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team.
Recognized on the team were Villanova running back
Justin Covington, Elon defensive lineman
Tristen Cox, William & Mary defensive lineman
Carl Fowler, Villanova offensive lineman
Colin Gamroth, James Madison quarterback
Cole Johnson, Delaware running back
Dejoun Lee, James Madison kicker
Ethan Ratke and Richmond defensive lineman
Kobie Turner.
Each of the nominees for the FCS Academic All-Star Team was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
Nine members of the All-Star team were also chosen as finalists for the FCS ADA $5,000 postgraduate scholarship. Two student-athletes will receive the award. Four of the nine finalists were from the CAA: Elon’s Cox, Villanova’s Gamroth, JMU’s Johnson and Delaware’s Lee.
