BOSTON (Jan. 12, 2022) – Towson men’s basketball senior Cam Holden was named to the midseason watch list for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year, presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I.

Holden has been an integral part of Towson’s strong start to the 2021-22 season, as the transfer guard ranks eighth in the league in scoring (13.9 ppg), third in rebounding (9.3), ninth in assists (2.9), eighth in steals (1.5) and eighth in free-throw percentage (69.2). His seven double-doubles lead the league and rank 15th nationally, while his 148 total rebounds are 14th in Division I. Holden recorded a performance of 20 points, 19 rebounds, and eight assists in a November win over Penn – the first such stat line by a Division I player since 2011.

Towson’s 11-5 overall record is tied for the best mark in the CAA through Tuesday. The Tigers are the top team in the CAA and the state of Maryland in the NCAA NET rankings and are nearly 200 spots above their 2020-21 finish in the KenPom rankings.

The most recent CAA player to win Lou Henson National Player of the Year honors was William & Mary’s Nathan Knight, two seasons ago.
