There are six conference matchups on the Week 9 schedule, and several could have a big impact on the title race. Highlighting the slate is a Top 25 showdown between #18 Rhode Island (5-2, 3-1 CAA) and #10 William & Mary (6-1, 3-1 CAA), with both teams on three-game winning streaks. #12 Delaware (6-1, 3-1 CAA) faces a tough test at Elon (5-3, 3-2 CAA), while #17 Richmond (5-2, 3-1 CAA) travels to Maine (2-5, 2-2 CAA). Also on the schedule, Monmouth (4-4, 2-3 CAA) hosts Towson (2-5, 0-4 CAA), Hampton (4-3, 1-3 CAA) is at Villanova (4-3, 2-2 CAA) and Stony Brook (1-6, 1-4 CAA) meets UAlbany (1-6, 0-4 CAA) in the Battle for the Golden Apple.
The race for the CAA title is the most competitive in FCS with five teams packed within 1.5 games of the lead entering Week 9. New Hampshire is on top of the standings at 5-0, but there are four squads (Delaware, Rhode Island, Richmond and William & Mary) at 3-1. Eight CAA teams also have winning overall records, which is three more than any other FCS league.
