CAA Cross Country Teams Ready for NCAA Regional Championships

RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 10, 2022) – CAA Cross Country teams will toe the line for the NCAA Regional Championships on Friday. Eleven teams will represent the conference across three regionals, including the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

Northeast Regional – Van Cortlandt Park | Bronx, N.Y. | Columbia University

The Northeast Regional will have three conference teams in the field, with HofstraNortheastern and Stony Brook set to compete. It will feature the CAA men’s team champion after Stony Brook claimed the conference title in its first CAA season, as well as both CAA individual champions. Alexander Korczynski and Abigail Hassman of Northeastern became the first duo from the same institution to win the individual titles in the same season since 2012. The Northeast Regional has two nationally ranked teams on the men’s and women’s sides. The Seawolves and Huskies men rank fifth and seventh, respectively, in the Northeast Regional rankings, while the Northeastern women rank fifth and Stony Brook is 11th.

Three conference teams will also participate at the Mid-Atlantic Regional as DelawareMonmouth and Towson make up the CAA representatives. The regional will have two nationally ranked teams in the men’s and women’s race, while Delaware enters the competition ranked 14th in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings.

The Southeast Regional features a league-high five teams within the field. The CAA women’s team champion will be on display, as Elon is joined by Charleston, North Carolina A&T, UNCW and William & Mary in the competition. The Phoenix, who won its fourth straight CAA women’s title in October, enters the meet ranked seventh in the Southeast Regional rankings. William & Mary accompanies Elon ranked 14th on the women’s side, while the Tribe men are ranked 15th. In total, the region has five nationally ranked teams on the women’s side and four for the men.
