CAA Football Weekly Awards - November 21

RICHMOND, Va. (November 21, 2022) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 12 of the 2022 season. New Hampshire junior running back Dylan Laube received Offensive Player of the Week honors, while William & Mary sophomore linebacker John Pius was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Week. Rhode Island senior safety Oneil Robinson was named the Special Teams Player of the Week and Villanova freshman linebacker Shane Hartzell was selected as the Rookie of the Week.
CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Dylan Laube, Jr., RB, New Hampshire (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach)
Laube amassed 281 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns as New Hampshire edged Maine, 42-41 in overtime, to clinch a share of the CAA title. The junior running back rushed for 190 yards and tied a career-high with 3 TD’s, caught two passes for 17 yards and added 70 yards on four kickoff returns. Laube leads the nation in all-purpose yardage (179.2 ypg) for the season.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
John Pius, So., LB, William & Mary (Arlington, Va./Yorktown)
Pius recorded a career-high 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack and two quarterback hurries as William & Mary defeated Richmond, 37-26, to claim a share of the CAA title. The linebacker was part of a Tribe defense that tallied five sacks and held UR to 63 yards rushing. Pius leads the CAA and ranks 3
rd in FCS with 11.5 sacks and also leads the league with 19.0 TFL’s.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Oneil Robinson, Sr., S, Rhode Island (Hartford, Conn./Capital Prep)
Robinson fielded a blocked field goal by Westley Neal, Jr. and returned it 96 yards for a touchdown to help Rhode Island defeat UAlbany, 35-21. The return late in the second quarter gave the Rams a 21-7 advantage. Robinson also contributed six tackles, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry on defense.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Shane Hartzell, Fr., LB, Villanova (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge)
Hartzell recorded 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack in Villanova’s 29-26 victory over Delaware in the Battle of the Blue. It was the second double-digit tackle performance of the season for Hartzell, who led the Wildcats with 74 tackles and 9.0 TFL’s this season.
