INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 10, 2022) – CAA Women’s Soccer Champions Hofstra will visit Georgetown to open the NCAA Championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

Hofstra captured its fifth CAA title in the last six seasons by making a run from the No. 8 seed in the CAA Women’s Soccer Championship presented by Primis to defeat the No. 1 seed in penalties, the No. 5 seed in regulation, and the No. 3 seed in overtime to earn the CAA’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship. The Pride is 10-7-4 entering the tournament.

Georgetown is 14-1-5 on the year and went 8-0-2 in the Big East before capturing a conference title on Sunday in Maryland. The Hoyas have shut out 14 of their last 15 opponents dating back to September 4 and are 1-0 this year against CAA competition with a win over William & Mary. Georgetown has won eight times this season by a 1-0 margin.

Hofstra has won its NCAA Championship opener in each of its last three trips (2018, 2019, 2021). The Pride defeated Big East member Providence last November in Hempstead.

The game can be seen on ESPN+. A Hofstra victory on Saturday would advance the Pride to play either Pittsburgh or Buffalo next weekend.
