In celebration of Black History Month, the CAA is recognizing one former student-athlete, coach or administrator from each of its 10 member institutions who have made a significant impact in the community. The conference is proud to promote these men and women for their outstanding accomplishments.

Odicci Alexander, James Madison - Softball

One of the most decorated and accomplished athletes in JMU history in any sport, Odicci Alexander was a key piece to James Madison’s memorable run to the 2021 Women’s College World Series and earned national media attention for her efforts.

Alexander contributed to the Dukes' success during their historic 2021 postseason run, throwing 94 strikeouts in 75.5 innings and finishing with a record of 8-3 in the circle. She picked up wins over four top-10 teams, including the 2021 NCAA National Champion Oklahoma, and two wins over No. 25 Liberty. She earned a spot on the Women's College World Series All-Tournament team for her outstanding efforts in the circle.

Postseason awards included D1 Softball’s Woman of the Year, Softball America NCAA Pitcher of the Year and CAA Pitcher of the Year. Alexander went 18-3 in the circle for the season with a 1.71 ERA and 204 strikeouts in 143 2/3 innings pitched during the 2021 campaign.
 
Upon the season’s conclusion, Alexander signed with USSSA Pride, becoming the fourth Duke to sign with the organization, and Athletes Unlimited for the league's second season. Alexander was named a finalist for Best Female College Athlete ESPY Award. Most recently, she was named to the Team USA roster for the upcoming Canada Cup.
 
For her career, Alexander compiled a 2.18 ERA and 81-18 overall record in 640 innings pitched while tallying 712 strikeouts. At the plate, she hit .337 with 39 home runs and 164 RBIs.
