CAA Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards – Feb. 14

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 14, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced its men’s lacrosse weekly awards following the second week of the 2022 season. Delaware’s Matt Kilkeary and Fairfield’s Bryce Ford claimed CAA Co-Player of the Week honors, while Gerard Kane of Hofstra took home Rookie of the Week accolades.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryce Ford, Fairfield
Junior | Attack | South Salem, N.Y. / John Jay
Ford had a career day in his first game since March 10, 2020. The Fairfield attackman recorded career-highs in points and goals, finding the back of the net six times with a pair of assists for eight total points. Ford helped account for eight of Fairfield’s 12 goals, despite the Stags falling in the final 30 seconds to Stony Brook 13-12 in their season opener.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Kilkeary, Delaware
Senior | Goalkeeper | Lake Sherwood, Calif. / Westlake
Kilkeary was stout between the pipes, helping Delaware to a 12-6 victory over Mount St. Mary’s to begin the year 2-0. The senior goalkeeper faced 43 shots and registered 16 saves, posting a .727 save percentage. He shut out the Mountaineers in the first quarter and allowed just two goals through three quarters, making way for his team to build an insurmountable lead to emerge victoriously.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Gerard Kane, Hofstra
Sophomore | Attack | Suwanee, Ga. / Lambert
Kane made his first collegiate start, pacing Hofstra’s offense in a 21-9 win over Sacred Heart. Kane tallied a team-best four goals, marking the first multi-goal game of his career. The attackman registered six shots with five coming on goal and picked up a ground ball as the Pride began the season 2-0.
