Serena Jacobs have been selected as the first Colonial Athletic Association weekly award winners for the 2022 women’s lacrosse season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Russell scored six goals and added two assists in William & Mary’s 14-13 comeback win at Villanova to open the 2022 season. The attacker from Colorado’s eight points ranked seventh in a game in program history, while her six goals place 10
th in the W&M record book. Russell scored the six goals on seven shots, which were all on cage, and added two ground balls and a caused turnover.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maura Cissel, Drexel
Graduate Student | Defense | Annapolis, Md. / Annapolis Senior
Cissel contributed four ground balls and three caused turnovers in her Drexel debut to help the Dragons to an 18-7 win over Wagner on Saturday. The grad transfer led the team in both categories as No. 19 Drexel notched 16 caused turnovers as a team.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Serena Jacobs, William & Mary
Freshman | Midfield | Vienna, Va. / Georgetown Visitation
Jacobs scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in her collegiate debut to help William & Mary to a 14-13 win at Villanova. The midfielder from Virginia tied the game with 3:16 to play and scored the game-winner 59 seconds later to cap off a three-goal performance in her first college game.
