Six #CAALax Programs Ranked or Receiving Votes in National Polls

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 14, 2022) – Six Colonial Athletic Association lacrosse programs are ranked or receiving votes in the most recent national polls.
 
James Madison leads two CAA women’s programs in both polls at No. 13 in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll and No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings. The Dukes fell to No. 2 North Carolina in their season opener in Harrisonburg despite 15 saves from Molly Dougherty.
 
Drexel begins the week at No. 19 in the ILWomen/IWLCA voting and No. 18 from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Drexel was an 18-7 winner over Wagner on Saturday with Lucy Schneidereith providing a six-point afternoon and Maura Cissel collecting CAA Defensive Player of the Week.
 
On the men’s side, Delaware leads the way for CAA programs at No. 17 from the USILA, No. 18 in the Inside Lacrosse poll, and No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings. The Blue Hens are 2-0 after a 12-6 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday that earned goalie Matt Kilkeary CAA Co-Player of the Week honors.
 
Drexel was idle last weekend but remains in the USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings at No. 19 while receiving votes from Inside Lacrosse and the USILA. The Dragons open their season Saturday at UMBC.
 
UMass received votes in all three polls after a one-goal setback at nationally ranked Army in its 2022 opener. Logan Liljeberg and Shane O’Leary led the Minutemen with three goals each.
 
Hofstra’s 2-0 start has earned the Pride national recognition, receiving votes in the USILA poll. Gerard Kane scored a game-high four goals in Hofstra’s 21-9 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday; Kane was named CAA Rookie of the Week for his efforts.
