Towson sophomore Brian Benzing turned in another record-setting performance on Friday evening at the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Benzing picked up Honorable Mention All-America honors after landing in the B Finals of the 100-yard breaststroke. The sophomore from Catonsville, Maryland was seeded 22nd entering the NCAA Championships, but swam the ninth-fastest preliminary time, touching in 51.47 seconds. His preliminary swim set a new Towson program record, while also improving on his own CAA record as well.

The two-time CAA champion in the 100-yard breaststroke earned the Honorable Mention plaudits by virtue of his B Final time. In the B Final swim, Benzing finished 13th overall and fifth in the B Finals with a 51.66 at McAuley Aquatic Center, Georgia Tech's home pool.

Benzing is Towson's first men's swimmer to earn All-America mention since Jack Saunderson did so in 2018-19 in the 200-yard butterfly. Benzing earned four points in the team standings as well.
