RICHMOND, Va. (April 22, 2022) – Two CAA Championship trophies will be hoisted over the next week in the Carolinas, while a battle for first in softball takes place in Delaware and teams aim to earn conference tournament berths on the lacrosse field.

Tennis: The CAA Men’s Tennis Championship gets underway on Friday morning from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the campus of Elon University. William & Mary is the top seed in the tournament for the first time since 2018, while second-seeded UNCW is looking to capture its eighth conference title in 13 years. Regular-season play concludes in women’s tennis. On Saturday, UNCW hosts Charleston, Elon visits William & Mary and Towson is home against Saint Joseph’s.

Golf: The CAA Men’s Golf Championship will tee off Sunday at Dataw Island in South Carolina. Charleston aims to defend its title on the course it won a CAA title a year ago. A full preview will be available on CAASports.com on Saturday.

Women’s Lacrosse: Towson and Drexel have clinched places in the CAA Championship in May, while four other teams – Delaware, Elon, Hofstra, and William & Mary – are in contention for the other two spots. The Tigers are idle this weekend, while Drexel travels to North Carolina to face Elon (12 p.m., FloLive). Delaware can clinch a CAA Championship berth with a win at No. 11 James Madison (1 p.m., FloLive), while Hofstra travels to William & Mary (1 p.m., FloLive). | Weekend Schedule

Men’s Lacrosse: It is the penultimate weekend in CAA men’s lacrosse, and three teams are tied for first place in the conference standings, with the other three teams just one game back. Fairfield will host Towson (3:30 p.m., LSN) in a matchup of first-place teams as the Stags and Tigers look to remain atop the CAA standings. Drexel, also among the three-way tie for first, will host Delaware (4 p.m., FloLive), coming off its first CAA win last weekend. The final matchup features Hofstra hosting UMass (1 p.m., FloLive) as the Pride and Minutemen look to better position themselves for a conference tournament berth. | Weekend Schedule

Softball: Just three weekends remain in conference play with the top two teams in the conference standings meeting in Newark this weekend as Delaware hosts Hofstra for a three-game set. The Pride is the only team to win their first four CAA series, while the Blue Hens have won three straight, but one of those streaks will end this weekend. After a slow start, Elon has won back-to-back series and five of its last six conference games. The Phoenix looks to stay hot, visiting Towson over the weekend. UNCW dropped its first conference series last weekend and will be looking to bounce back against Charleston, which is in search of its first CAA series win. Lastly, Drexel will host James Madison as the Dukes are looking for their second consecutive series win while the Dragons are attempting to snap back-to-back series defeats. | Weekend Schedule

Baseball: The CAA baseball race remains tight, setting the stage for several important series this weekend. League leader Charleston, which is coming off back-to-back conference sweeps of JMU and William & Mary at home, hits the road to face Elon. Delaware, which has a 14-5 mark at Bob Hannah Stadium this season, entertains a UNCW squad that sits a game ahead of the Blue Hens in the standings. Hofstra and William & Mary, which are tied for third place at 7-5, are also on the road this weekend. The Pride meets Towson and the Tribe faces James Madison. Northeastern visits High Point for a non-conference series. | Weekend Schedule

Track & Field: All nine CAA track and field programs will compete this weekend, with eight traveling to the University of Virginia for the Virginia Challenge. Delaware, Elon, Hofstra, JMU, UNCW, Northeastern, Towson and William & Mary are set to make the trip to Charlottesville. Three teams – Delaware, Hofstra and Towson – will also send student-athletes to the Loyola/Hopkins Invitational in Baltimore. Finally, Charleston will partake in the USC Open, hosted by South Carolina.

Rowing: Four CAA rowing teams are in action this weekend. Delaware and Villanova will participate in the Mason Invitational at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax, Virginia. Additionally, Northeastern will compete for the Rowlands Cup against Yale and Radcliff on the Connecticut River, while Drexel hosts UMass for a dual on the Schuylkill River.
