W&M's Stange Selected As CAA Women's Tennis Championship Most Outstanding Performer

RICHMOND, Va. (May 4, 2022) – William & Mary freshman
Ine Stange was selected as the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2022 CAA Women’s Tennis Championship in a vote by the league’s coaches.
Stange went 3-0 at No. 6 singles to help lead the second-seeded Tribe to its first CAA championship since 2018 and 27
th overall conference title. She clinched the match against #7 Towson in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sissi Axelsson. In a tight 4-3 semifinal contest against #3 Delaware, the freshman rallied past Isabella Montana, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4. Stange capped her weekend by defeating Elon’s Shauna Galvin, 6-3, 7-5, in W&M’s 4-1 win over #4 Elon in the finals.
Stange and partner Hedda Gurholt were also 2-1 at No. 3 doubles in the tournament.
Stange improved to 12-7 in dual match competition and takes a six-match winning streak into Saturday’s contest against 6
th-seeded NC State in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship.
