RICHMOND, Va. (July 19, 2022) – To continue the 50th-anniversary celebration of Title IX, CAA Reporter Karlie Smith sat down with a standout member of the Villanova rowing team, Olivia Krause.

Krause is the recent CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award winner for the sport of rowing, becoming the first recipient of the honor in program history. In addition to competing for the Villanova rowing program, the junior serves as a group leader for UNITAS Women’s Empowerment for Villanova Athletics, a leadership ambassador for the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership at Villanova University, and as a member of the Spotlight on Leadership Committee at Villanova.

Her leadership skills within the Wildcat community helped Villanova on the water as the three-year letter winner competed in all five events in the Varsity Eight boat this spring. Krause sitting in the three-seat, helped Villanova earn the program’s first CAA Boat of the Week honors in not just one but back-to-back weeks after three wins in a two-week span.

The CAA is excited to continue to spotlight women in sports who positively impact the realm of athletics.
