RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 4, 2023) – No. 23 Charleston lit up the scoreboard for its 14th-straight victory, while UNCW was dominant on the backboards to win its 12th game in a row as both teams improved to 3-0 in CAA play. Charleston (15-1) and UNCW (13-3) hold the nation’s two longest winning streaks with the Cougars’ 15 victories the most in the nation.
 
23/RV Charleston 92, North Carolina A&T 79
No. 23 Charleston rattled off a 24-6 run to close the first half and received a balanced effort at both ends of the floor on its way to its 14th-straight win. The contest was even at 25 with 6:40 to play in the opening half before a 14-2 blast from the visitors followed by a 12-2 stretch opened up a 51-31 Charleston advantage at the break. Dalton Bolon led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds for Charleston, which improved to 15-1 and 3-0 in the CAA. The Cougars shot 49%, including 53% in the opening 20 minutes, and outrebounded the Aggies 46-37. Kam Woods led all scorers with 30 points along with six rebounds and six assists for North Carolina A&T and Duncan Powell added 20.
 
UNCW 81, Elon 66
Trazarien White had a career night with 26 points and seven rebounds and UNCW grabbed 16 offensive rebounds to earn the Seahawks their 12th-consecutive victory. White was 12-of-21 from the floor and corralled seven boards as UNCW improved to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in CAA action. The Seahawks are off to a 3-0 start to league play for the second consecutive year after beginning their conference slate 9-0 last season, while the 16-game record is the program’s best since opening the 2016-17 campaign 20-2. Zac Ervin tallied a team-high 16 points for Elon, which was limited to eight available scholarship players in the defeat. UNCW held a 40-25 advantage on the glass.
