Five CAA Football Teams Ranked In Final FCS Top 25 Polls

RICHMOND, Va. (January 9, 2023) – Five CAA Football teams were nationally ranked in the final Stats Perform and AFCA Coaches FCS Top 25 polls, which was the second-highest total of any conference.
William & Mary (11-2) was ranked No. 8 in both polls after beating Big South champ Gardner-Webb and advancing to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs. The Tribe, which captured a share of the CAA title, matched a school record with 11 overall victories.
Richmond (9-4) was No. 11 in the Stats poll and No. 12 in the AFCA poll. The Spiders reached the second of the FCS playoffs with a victory over Pioneer League champ Davidson before dropping a narrow decision to 2
nd-seeded Sacramento State.
New Hampshire (9-4) finished No. 13 in the Stats rankings and No. 15 in the AFCA rankings. The Wildcats advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs with a win over Fordham before falling to 8
th-seeded Holy Cross.
Elon (8-4) was ranked No. 17 by Stats and No. 18 by the AFCA in the final polls. The Phoenix suffered a setback at Furman in the opening round of the playoffs.
Delaware (8-5) received a No. 19 ranking from Stats and was tied for No. 24 in the AFCA rankings. The Blue Hens earned a win over Northeast Conference champ Saint Francis before losing to eventual national champion South Dakota State in the second round.
Rhode Island (7-4) received votes in the final Stats Perform Top 25 poll. The Rams reached the seven-win mark for the second consecutive season.
