RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 1, 2023) – Four league members took home a major award in the CAA’s Men’s Soccer voting with results announced Wednesday.

Hofstra’s Eliot Goldthorp was named the league’s Player of the Year, Drexel’s Youri Senden was selected as Defensive Player of the Year, Delaware’s Richard Monath earned Rookie of the Year honors, and Stony Brook’s Ryan Anatol was tabbed as Coach of the Year.

Voting was conducted by the league’s 11 head coaches following Saturday’s conclusion to the regular season; coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Goldthorp enters the CAA Championship leading the nation with 12 assists and ranking 16th and second in the conference with 26 points. The junior from the United Kingdom has helped lead Hofstra to an 11-3-4 record in the regular season, a share of the CAA regular season title and league’s top seed and seen the Pride to a national ranking as high as No. 16 this fall.

Senden has anchored a Drexel defense limiting opponents to 1.00 goals per game in 2023, while producing six shutouts in 15 matches. The junior from The Netherlands has contributed to a 9-2-4 mark for Drexel entering the CAA Championship with the nine victories matching the highest total for the program in the last decade. The Dragons will make a program-best fourth-consecutive appearance in the conference tournament.

Monath led a stellar Delaware freshman class that features three of the 10 CAA All-Rookie selections. The midfielder from Maryland leads CAA rookies with six assists and has added four goals for a total of 14 points. Delaware is back into the CAA Championship for the first time since 2018, as the Blue Hens tied for fourth in the regular season.

Anatol steered Stony Brook to a third-place finish in the CAA after the Seawolves were picked 11th of 11 in the preseason. Stony Brook opened league play 4-0-2 and went 2-1-1 against its CAA Championship competition in the regular season. The Seawolves ran off a nine-match unbeaten streak from early September through mid-October.

The three All-CAA teams feature all 11 programs; Hofstra and Monmouth each earned a league-best three selections on the first team.
