INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 5, 2023) – UNCW junior Trazarien White was selected as one of five National Players of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday, marking the second-consecutive week a CAA player has been recognized.

White’s career-best 27-point performance Saturday powered UNCW to an 80-73 win over No. 12 Kentucky at Rupp Arena. The junior from Texas was 9-for-16 from the floor and added 10 rebounds to secure the Seahawks’ second win over a ranked opponent in program history. White averaged a double-double for the week with 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in games against East Carolina and Kentucky.

White joins Hofstra’s Tyler Thomas as recipients of the USBWA honor this season. White was also honored by The Field of 68 as Player of the Night for Saturday’s performance, as was Thomas for his game vs. High Point.

The USBWA expanded its national weekly honor to five players for the 2023-24 season; the CAA is the first mid-major league to earn two honors this season under the new format.
