CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - Dec. 5

RICHMOND, Va. (December 5, 2023) – Drexel sophomore Sebastian Smith earned CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors and Stony Brook freshman Sylvia Walker received CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades after both were part of record-setting efforts last weekend. Delaware sophomore Kevin Siegfried was named Men’s Diver of the Week and Blue Hens’ sophomore Alex Pastris was chosen as the Women’s Diver of the Week.
 
CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Sebastian Smith, So., Drexel (Wappingers, N.Y.)
 
Smith recorded two individual victories and a first-place effort in a relay as Drexel defeated Lehigh, 172-64 last Saturday. The sophomore captured the 50 free in a time of 20.78 and won the 50 fly with a time of 22.22. He was also part of the Dragons’ 200 free relay team that broke the Lehigh pool record with a time of 1:30.41.
 
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sylvia Walker, Fr., Stony Brook (Greenville, S.C.)
Walker was honored as the Swimmer of the Meet at the ECAC Winter Championships after breaking three Stony Brook program records. The freshman set new program bests in the 50 free (23.58) and 100 free (51.03) and was a member of the Seawolves’ record-breaking 200 free relay team (1:34.72). Walker also took first place in the 200 free (1:50.27) and was part of second-place teams in the 400 free and 800 free relays to help Stony Brook post its best finish at the ECAC Championships since 2010.

CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Kevin Siegfried, So., Delaware (Chalfont, Pa.)
 
Siegfried posted a pair of top two finishes in Delaware’s meet against West Chester last weekend. The sophomore captured the 1-meter competition with a score of 272.25 and turned in a second-place effort on the 3-meter board with a score of 272.85.
 
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Alex Pastris, So., Delaware (Broomall, Pa.)
 
Pastris finished in the top two on both boards in Delaware’s meet at West Chester last weekend. The sophomore posted an NCAA Zone cut score of 297.23 on the 3-meter board to take first place and was second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 269.70.
