In celebration of Black History Month, the CAA is recognizing one current or former student-athlete, coach or administrator from each of its 13 member institutions who have made a significant impact in the community. The conference is proud to promote these men and women for their outstanding accomplishments.

Jason Simms, Associate Athletics Director, William & Mary

Jason Simms has played a vital role in the William & Mary athletics department for more than 15 years, and currently serves as Associate Athletics Director for Student Engagement, Alumni Relations and Recruitment.

Simms started his William & Mary career as the Director of Academic Services in 2007, where he was involved with course scheduling, student development, academic and career planning for all 23 Tribe varsity sports. He recently has taken on a more diverse set of duties that includes advancement and engagement.  But, at the heart of his every role is serving the Tribe student-athletes. He has helped generations of reach their fullest potential in the classroom and in life after graduation. 

Simms has been a member of the W&M Athletics Senior Leadership Team for over a decade and is the department’s current representative on the campus’ Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion team.  He is also the first Black administrator to serve in the athletics leadership group. Along with his other duties, Simms serves as the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s swimming and men’s tennis programs.
