Bracket Locked and Loaded for 2023 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Primis

RICHMOND, Va. (March 4, 2023)
– In a year filled with more parity than any in recent memory, the bracket for the 2023 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Primis has been solidified. The tournament commences on Wednesday from SECU Arena in Towson, Md. on the campus of Towson University. To purchase tickets, click HERE.
 
Victories from Towson and Northeastern on the final day of the regular season positioned a three-way tie atop the conference standings between them and Drexel. The Tigers earned the top seed in the conference tournament with a 2-1 (.667) record against the Dragons and Huskies during the regular season. Drexel will be seeded second after splitting (2-2) its regular season series with both Towson and Northeastern, while the Huskies are seeded third after going 1-2 (.333) against the others. 
 
William & Mary earned the fourth seed, receiving the final bye into the quarterfinals after a win in its regular-season finale and a head-to-head win over North Carolina A&T, who is seeded fifth, with both teams finishing 12-6 in league play. 
 
The five teams with 12 or more CAA wins mark the most since the 2007-08 season, while with six winning double-digit league games, it matches the most in conference history, which last happened in 2003-04.
 
Tournament action begins on Wednesday with a first-round matchup between No. 12 Hofstra and No. 13 UNCW at 2 p.m.  
 
The second round begins on Thursday at 12 p.m. as No. 8 Delaware takes on No. 9 Hampton, followed by No. 5 North Carolina A&T facing the winner of Wednesday’s first round contest at 2:30 p.m. The action continues with No. 7 Monmouth squaring off against No. 10 Charleston at 5 p.m. before concluding with No. 6 Stony Brook versus No. 11 Elon in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. 
 
The top four seeds earn byes to Friday’s quarterfinals, where they will await the winners from Thursday’s second round. No.1 Towson will open quarterfinal competition at 12 p.m. against the winner of Delaware/Hampton. The second game of the day will tip at 2:30 p.m., featuring No. 4 William & Mary versus either North Carolina A&T or the Hofstra/UNCW winner. At. 5 p.m., No. 2 Drexel awaits the winner of Monmouth/Charleston before rounding out the night with No. 3 Northeastern against the victor of Stony Brook/Elon at 7:30 p.m.
 
Saturday’s semifinals are set for 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with the winners advancing to the CAA Title game at 2 p.m., which will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network for the first time in league history.
