CAA Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards – April 10

RICHMOND, Va. (April 10, 2023) – The CAA has announced its ninth men’s lacrosse weekly awards for the 2023 season. Drexel junior attack Sean Donnelly earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Towson redshirt junior goalkeeper Evan Long was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week. In addition, Towson freshman Ryan Schrier
received CAA Rookie of the Week recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sean Donnelly, Drexel

Donnelly recorded a game-high six points on five goals and one assist, leading Drexel to a 15-14 overtime victory over Stony Brook as the Dragons opened CAA play 4-0 for the first time since 2007. The junior attackman tallied five points in the second half, scoring four goals and dishing out his lone assist, setting up the Dragons for their fifth straight win. Donnelly has scored in nine consecutive games, including three hat tricks in a row. Additionally, he has three or more goals in six games this season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Evan Long, Towson
R-Junior | Goalkeeper | West Chester, Pa. / McDonogh
Long matched a career-high with 20 saves, posting a .714 save percentage to lead Towson to a 10-8 victory over Hofstra. The redshirt junior turned away 16 of Hofstra’s last 20 shots on goal in the contest, including six of seven in the fourth quarter. Long has five games this season with double-digit saves and leads the CAA with 12.00 saves per game.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ryan Schrier, Towson
Freshman | Attack | Odenton, Md. / Archbishop Spalding HS
Schrier netted three goals for his third consecutive hat trick, including the eventual game-winning goal in Towson’s 10-8 win over Hofstra. The freshman tallied all three goals after the break, giving Towson a one-goal advantage on all three occasions. Schrier found the back of the net five seconds into the third quarter before registering his second 39 seconds into the fourth quarter. His final tally came at the 8:56 mark in the fourth quarter to give the Tigers a lead for the last time, 9-8.
