SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (May 12, 2023) – The Northeastern women’s rowing team won all four races to capture its ninth consecutive CAA Championship Friday morning at Fish Creek. It marks the first time since 2017 that a team has swept all four races at the CAA Championship and the fourth time the Huskies have completed the feat.

Northeastern totaled 42 points to win the team title, followed by Drexel with 36 points, who finished runner-up for the eighth year in a row. Delaware rounded out the top three, scoring 29 points for its second top-three finish in the past three seasons. Villanova placed fourth (22), with UConn (18), UC San Diego (13), Eastern Michigan (8) and Monmouth (0) completing the field.

The Huskies won their third straight gold medal in the First Varsity Eight with a dominating performance. Northeastern crossed the finish with a winning time of 7:11.544, seven seconds ahead of Drexel in second (7:18.588). Delaware rounded out the podium, improving on a fifth-place effort last season to take third (7:22.658).

Northeastern, Drexel and Delaware also finished first, second and third, respectively, in the Second Varsity Eight. The Huskies edged the Dragons in a tight race, recording a time of 7:34.214. Drexel (7:36.448) finished just two seconds behind Northeastern and 12 seconds ahead of Delaware (7:48.536).

The Huskies started their title defense by capturing momentum in the closest race of the day, edging Drexel in the Varsity Four. Northeastern crossed the finish in 08:32.160, seven one-thousandths ahead of Drexel (8:32.238). UC San Diego took bronze (8:43.338) in the event, medaling for the second time in program history at the CAA Championships.
