INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 14, 2023)
– CAA Softball Champion Hofstra drew the Norman Regional in the 2023 NCAA Softball Tournament, announced during the NCAA Softball Selection Show Sunday night. The region is comprised of top-seeded Oklahoma, California, Missouri and the Pride.

Hofstra opens play against the host, top-seeded Oklahoma, on Friday, May 19, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. on ESPNU. The entire NCAA Softball Championship Tournament will be televised on the ESPN family of networks and the ESPN App.

The Pride claimed its league-leading 13th CAA Softball Championship on Saturday after becoming the first team to win the title from the consolation bracket since 2011. Hofstra defeated Towson twice on the final day of the 2023 CAA Championship, including a 5-4 walk-off victory in the winner-take-all game 13.

Hofstra will be making its 18th appearance in the NCAA Tournament but first since 2018. The Pride is 27-34 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. In 2004, Hofstra became the first CAA program in league history to reach a Regional Final before becoming the first team in conference history to advance to a Super Regional in 2012.

The Pride has a small sample size against all three teams in the regional. Hofstra is 1-1 all-time against the Sooners, 0-3 versus California and 1-3 as the opposition to Missouri.

The CAA has had four teams reach a Super Regional, including Hofstra, and one advance to the Women’s College World Series. A CAA team has won at least one Regional game in nine of the past 10 seasons.
