UNCW, Charleston’s van Wyk Close Seasons at NCAA Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. and SALEM, S.C. (May 17, 2023) – The UNCW men’s golf team fashioned a three-under-par 285 in the third and final round to finish 11th at the NCAA Norman Regional on Wednesday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Regional champion Alabama advanced to the NCAA Championships later this month along with Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas Tech and Duke. The Seahawks finished ahead of Princeton, Louisiana and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Walker Isley and Rune Bokeid were UNCW's top finishers, placing 21st and 23rd, respectively. Freshman Gray Mitchum held team-best round honors with a two-under-par 70 on Wednesday.
 
In South Carolina, Charleston’s Kieron van Wyk completed play at the NCAA Salem Regional at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls on Wednesday afternoon. The CAA Golfer of the Year finished the tournament one-under for a T48 finish.

The South Africa native shot six birdies, the most for the sophomore during a round at the regional. van Wyk made 17 total birdies during the tournament.
