Hayles Concludes Men’s Track & Field Season with First Team All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas (June 9, 2023) – North Carolina A&T sophomore sprinter
Reheem Hayles closed out the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field season with First Team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships from Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas, Friday night.
Amongst the top runners in the nation, Hayles ran 45.22 in the 400m final to take sixth place at the National Championships. The time was his second-best this season after running a lifetime best 44.81 in the semifinals on Wednesday.
With the finish, the sophomore sprinter collects First Team All-America accolades for the second straight season and his first as an individual. In 2022, Hayles earned the honors as part of the North Carolina A&T 4x400m relay team.
Hayles was the 11
th NCAA qualifier from the conference in the 400m and the sixth to reach the finals in league history. The sixth-place finish matches Hofstra’s
Alex Masai (10,000m) and
Kyle Darrow of Northeastern (Long Jump) for the best performance by a CAA student-athlete on the men’s side since 2013.
