CAA Announces 2023-24 Championships Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. (July 27, 2023) – The CAA has announced the dates and formats of its 2023-24 championship schedule.
The CAA will conduct 23 conference championships in 2023-24 with 12 held on campus sites and 11 at neutral locations.
The first two CAA trophies of the year will be earned on Friday, Oct. 27 when William & Mary hosts the CAA Cross Country Championships at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. Stony Brook will look to defend the men’s title – its first CAA Championship after joining the conference last year – while Elon will strive for a fifth-straight title.
The CAA Women’s Soccer Championship begins with first-round competition on Thursday, Oct. 26 on the campuses of the No. 1 and 2 seeds. Semifinal matches will be contested on Sunday, Oct. 29 with the final slated for Saturday, Nov. 4. Hofstra won its second-consecutive CAA title in overtime last year in Brookline, Mass.
Delaware will host the four-team CAA Field Hockey Championship on Friday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 5 in Newark, Del. The Blue Hens will aim to defend home turf and a string of four straight conference titles.
The CAA Men’s Soccer Championship – following the same six-team format adopted by women’s soccer this season – begins Thursday, Nov. 2 at the top two seeds. Semifinal play will take place Sunday, Nov. 5 with the title game on Saturday, Nov. 11. Both soccer championship games are subject to a one-day flex based on Saturday facility availability.
The fall championship slate concludes at SECU Arena when Towson hosts the six-team CAA Volleyball Championship Thursday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 18. The Tigers have won the last four conference titles.
The second edition of the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships heads to the historic Nike New York Armory in New York City on Thursday, Feb. 22 and Friday, Feb. 23. The Northeastern men and Elon women won the inaugural titles last year in Virginia Beach.
The CAA Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Hampton Aquaplex Thursday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 2. UNCW swept last year’s titles at the venue.
Ten days of basketball in the nation’s capital tip off on Friday, March 8 with the first of 13 games of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. Charleston will look to defend its title in the fourth men’s championship played at the ESA, which will run through Tuesday, March 12.
The following day, the CAA Women’s Basketball Championship will begin at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The women’s championship returns to a neutral site for the first time since 2016 and will be played under the same five-day, 13-game format from Wednesday, March 13 through Sunday, March 17.
Both golf championships return to their familiar courses, beginning with the CAA Women’s Golf Championship at The Clubs at St. James in Southport, N.C. Charleston, winner of the last two CAA titles, will be one of 10 teams to tee off in the event that runs from Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14.
The CAA Men’s Golf Championship will be contested again at Dataw Island in Saint Helena Island, S.C., from Sunday, April 21 through Tuesday, April 23. UNCW will aim to defend its title in the 11-team competition.
William & Mary will host the 11-team CAA Men’s Tennis Championship from Thursday, April 18 through Sunday, April 21. UNCW has captured the last three CAA men’s tennis titles, including last year’s at the Mackesy Tennis Center.
The CAA Women’s Tennis Championship, a 13-team competition over five days, will begin Wednesday, April 24 and run through Sunday, April 28 at Elon’s Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. William & Mary has won the last two CAA trophies.
Defending champion Stony Brook will host the four-team CAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Thursday, May 2 and Saturday, May 4 at LaValle Stadium on Long Island.
Those same days, the CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be played at the site of the No. 1 seed, as the site of semifinal action on Thursday, May 2 and the final on Saturday, May 4 will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season. Delaware won its second-consecutive CAA title in May in Newark.
A six-team CAA Softball Championship will take place in Newark, Delaware on Wednesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 11. Hofstra emerged to take the CAA title on its home field on Long Island a year ago.
The CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will shift back a week and be hosted at Elon’s Jerry & Jeanne Robertson Track & Field Complex on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. Northeastern won its eighth-straight men’s title and Elon made it three in a row on the women’s side last year in Williamsburg.
The CAA Women’s Rowing Championship also moves back a week and returns to South Jersey on Sunday, May 19 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Northeastern earned its ninth-straight title in May in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The conference championship schedule concludes Memorial Day Weekend with a six-team CAA Baseball Championship at UNCW’s Brooks Field. Competition begins in Wilmington on Wednesday, May 22 and concludes Saturday, May 25.
