RICHMOND, Va. (September 11, 2023) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 2 of the 2023 season. New Hampshire senior running back Dylan Laube and Campbell senior quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams shared Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Monmouth grad linebacker Jake Brown was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. William & Mary senior kicker Caden Bonoffski was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Campbell freshman wide receiver VJ Wilkins was named the Rookie of the Week.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Dylan Laube, Sr., RB, New Hampshire (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach)
Laube accounted for 371 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in New Hampshire’s 45-42 last-second loss at Central Michigan. The senior caught a career-high 12 passes for a school-record 295 yards, highlighted by TD grabs of 80 and 71 yards. He also ran for 30 yards and a TD. Laube’s 295 receiving yards are the 4
th-most in CAA history and his receiving and all-purpose yards are the most in FCS this season.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Hajj-Malik Williams, Sr., QB, Campbell (Atlanta, Ga./U.S. Military Academy Prep)
Williams tallied 398 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in Campbell’s 56-7 road win at The Citadel. The senior was 25-of-33 passing for 353 yards and 3 TD’s and ran for 45 yards and 2 TD’s as the Camels piled up 611 yards of offense, which was a school record vs. a Div. I opponent. Williams, who leads FCS in completion percentage (79.7%), guided CU to TD’s on eight of its first 10 possessions.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Brown, Gr., LB, Monmouth (Newton, N.J./Pope John XXII)
Brown recorded a team-high seven tackles, 2.0 sacks and forced a key fumble in Monmouth’s 42-23 win at Towson. With the Hawks leading 28-23 with 5:36 to go, the linebacker had a strip sack on the TU 29-yard line that set up a MU touchdown two plays later. Brown led a defense that limited the Tigers to 75 rushing yards and forced four turnovers.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Caden Bonoffski, Sr., PK, William & Mary (Huntersville, N.C./Community School of Davidson)
Bonoffski accounted for 11 points in William & Mary’s 23-6 victory over Wofford, going 3-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points. The senior connected on field goals of 40, 42 and 30 yards and is now 5-for-6 on the season.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
VJ Wilkins, Fr., WR, Campbell (Pfafftown, N.C./Reagan)
Wilkins made a team-high seven receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown as Campbell rolled past The Citadel, 56-7. The freshman had a 14-yard TD catch on the Camels’ opening drive, which was his second receiving score of the year. He leads CU with 11 receptions for the season.
