CAA Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards – Sept. 18

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 18, 2023) –Towson senior Nia Christopher, Monmouth junior Cassie Coster, and Monmouth freshman Loren Gehret are the CAA women’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending September 17.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nia Christopher, Towson
Senior | Forward | Devonshire, Bermuda / John Carroll School
Christopher collected two goals and an assist in a 2-0-0 week for Towson while making program history. The senior from Bermuda assisted on the game-tying goal in a comeback win Thursday at Elon and scored twice in Sunday’s victory at Campbell to break Towson’s program career goals record and tie the Tigers’ career points record.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cassie Coster, Monmouth
Junior | Goalkeeper | Poughquag, N.Y. / Arlington
Coster posted a pair of shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for Monmouth that included a stellar performance in goal in the week’s opener. The junior from New York made a season-high eight saves in Thursday’s scoreless draw against an undefeated William & Mary side before shutting out Hampton in a 5-0 win Sunday.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Loren Gehret, Monmouth
Freshman | Forward | Elysburg, Pa. / Southern Columbia
Gehret scored twice in Monmouth’s undefeated week to earn the Hawks four points in the CAA standings. The freshman from Pennsylvania notched both goals in Monmouth’s 5-0 victory over Hampton with the final two tallies of the contest.
