CAA Women’s Soccer Championship Begins Thursday with First Round Competition

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. and STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 2024) – Hofstra will face Delaware and Elon will take on Charleston in the First Round of the 2024 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship in neutral-site games on Thursday.
 
Elon (12-3-1, 7-3) is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed Charleston (11-3-5, 4-2-4) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in a game at Stony Brook, while Hofstra (7-4-6, 5-3-2) earned the No. 4 seed and will face fifth-seeded Delaware (6-6-6, 4-2-4) at the same time on Monmouth’s campus.
 
Charleston upended Elon, 3-0, in the team’s regular-season meeting on October 13. The Cougars scored 93 seconds into the contest and controlled the rest of the way. The winner will advance to face Stony Brook on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Seawolves defeated Charleston, 3-0, on September 22 on Long Island; Elon downed Stony Brook, 2-0, in the Seawolves’ next game on September 26 in North Carolina.
 
Delaware knocked off Hofstra, 2-1, on September 22 in Newark, finding the game-winner in the 82nd minute. The winner of Thursday’s matchup will play top-seeded Monmouth on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Hawks defeated both teams in the regular season with a 1-0 home win over Delaware on October 6 and 3-2 victory at Hofstra last Thursday.

Monmouth (11-2-5, 7-1-2) and Stony Brook (12-3-3, 7-1-2) are the top two teams in the standings at 23 points to conclude the regular season. The teams tied in their regular season meeting; Monmouth earned the top seed by virtue of its win over Hofstra.
 
Semifinal winners will meet the following weekend on a day and time that will be determined based on the host institution’s venue availability. All five games of the Championship can be seen on FloFC.
