Elon's Caleb Curtain Selected As FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award Finalist

Caleb Curtain has been selected as one of 13 finalists for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Doris Robinson Award is celebrating its 10th anniversary season and honors an FCS student-athlete who exemplifies excellence on the field, in the classroom and across the community. The values embody the leadership and integrity championed by Doris Robinson, a former schoolteacher and the wife of legendary Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson.
Curtain has excelled on and off the field during an outstanding career at Elon. In the classroom, he has achieved a 3.24 grade point average while majoring in Business Administration/Marketing. He has been a member of the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the Elon Athletic Director’s Honor Roll multiple times. Last month, Curtain was chosen as a semifinalist for the prestigious Wiliam V. Campbell Trophy by the National Football Foundation, which recognizes the best scholar-athlete in the nation.
On the field, Curtin earned first-team All-CAA and second-team All-America accolades in 2023 after recording a team-high 80 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions and six pass breakups. He was voted as the 2024 CAA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and is on the watch list for the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in FCS football. Through eight games this season, the Phoenix safety is tied for the team lead with 48 tackles and has added 4.0 TFL’s. 1.5 sacks, one interception and a team-high seven pass breakups.
In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Curtain is a team captain and has served on the Elon Football Players Council during all four years. He was recognized as a member of the AFCA Good Works Team. Curtain is also the President of Elon’s Omega Psi Phi fraternity and Treasurer of Elon’s National Panhellenic Council.
The collaboration between FedEx and the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award underscores a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of student-athletes, ensuring they are well-prepared for success beyond their collegiate careers. Through the Doris Robinson Award and the Career Expose – College Pathways Program, FedEx continues to invest in the future of young leaders, providing them with the tools and resources needed to thrive in the professional world.
Each finalist will be profiled on TheAnalyst.com in November before the recipient will be announced on Dec. 10, then honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas.
