Jayda Angel are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending November 10.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chloe Sterling, Hofstra
Junior | Guard | Kennesaw, Ga. / Marietta
Sterling averaged 19.5 points per game in the season’s opening week and helped Hofstra to a road victory. In the junior guard’s debut for the Pride against Sacred Heart, she dropped a career-high 18 points with six rebounds and three assists. Hofstra hit the road four days later, and Sterling bested her career-high once again with 21 points. The Georgia native rounded out her stat sheet with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the Pride’s first win of the season over NJIT.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jayda Angel, Elon
Freshman | Guard | Fayetteville, N.C / Cape Fear
Angel averaged 17.5 points in her first collegiate week and led Elon in scoring in a pair of victories. Elon tipped off its season by defeating High Point on Monday, with the freshman guard coming off the bench. Angel hit two of three attempts from distance on her way to a team-high 18 points, including 12 in the final quarter of a 66-65 victory. Angel followed with 17 points and seven rebounds in Friday’s 69-61 home win over Gardner-Webb.
