The Weekend Preview – Nov. 14, 2024

RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 14, 2024) – The final weekend of the regular season in volleyball and postseason play throughout the CAA highlight the weekend slate.

Volleyball
Charleston, Delaware, Hofstra, and Towson are in contention for a regular season title, N.C. A&T has also clinched a postseason berth, and Northeastern and Stony Brook are in the running for the sixth and final spot in the CAA Championship entering the season’s final weekend.

The two teams in contention for the 6-seed will have the opening matches on both Friday and Saturday. Northeastern is at Charleston for a pair of 1 p.m. matches, while Stony Brook will play at Campbell at 5 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Hofstra and Towson meet in a pivotal head-to-head matchup in Maryland with a first-round bye potentially on the line, Delaware looks to earn a top seed with two at home against Elon, and N.C. A&T – locked into the No. 5 seed – hosts UNCW, all in matches played Friday/Sunday.

William & Mary and Hampton will meet in a Friday/Sunday series that could have tiebreaker implications for Northeastern and Stony Brook, depending on Friday and Saturday’s results.

Women’s Soccer
Stony Brook faces No. 4 seed Penn State on Saturday night in the First Round of the NCAA Championship. Last weekend, the Seawolves defeated Monmouth, 2-1, in New Jersey to hoist their first CAA trophy.

Field Hockey
Delaware marches on in the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament to play the reigning national champions, North Carolina, after more overtime magic in Wednesday’s Opening Round win over Fairfield. The game can be found on ESPN+ on Friday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m.

Men’s Soccer
The CAA Men’s Soccer Championship Game is upon us as Hofstra and UNCW face off with hardware on the line on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. from Hempstead, N.Y.

A championship game preview will be available on CAASports.com on Friday.

Swimming & Diving
Stony Brook is the only CAA swimming and diving team in action this weekend as the Seawolves visit Siena on Saturday afternoon.
 
Cross Country
All of the CAA cross country teams will compete in various NCAA Regional competitions on Friday, with the hope of earning a spot in the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23. Northeastern’s Benjamin Godish and Abigail Hassman are looking to make a return trip to the national championship after both claimed individual titles at the CAA Championship on Nov. 1.
