RICHMOND, Va. (November 25, 2024) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 13 of the 2024 season. Rhode Island graduate running back Malik Grant and Monmouth senior quarterback Derek Robertson share Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Richmond graduate linebacker Quantraill Morris-Walker was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. Richmond freshman kicker Sean O’Haire was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Monmouth redshirt freshman wide receiver Tra Neal was named the Rookie of the Week.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Malik Grant, Gr., RB, Rhode Island (Bronx, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac)
Grant rushed for a season-high 204 yards and three touchdowns and added two catches for 16 yards and a TD as Rhode Island defeated Bryant, 35-21, to earn a share of its first CAA Football championship since 1985. The graduate had scoring runs of 13, 1 and 2 yards and his 4-yard TD catch was his first of the season. The 204 yards were the most by a CAA back this season.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Derek Robertson, Sr., QB, Monmouth (Hartsdale, N.Y./Iona Prep)
Robertson repeats as Player of the Week after completing 28-of-45 passes for a program-record 536 yards and three touchdowns in Monmouth’s 55-47 win over #18 Stony Brook. The yardage total was the 8
th-highest in CAA history and his seventh game this season with 350+ yards. Robertson set MU season marks for pass yards (3,937) and TD’s (31).
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Quantraill Morris-Walker, Gr., LB, Richmond (Bellflower, Calif./Jserra Catholic)
Morris-Walker recorded a career-high 11 tackles, 2.0 TFL’s and a sack to lead a dominant defensive effort in Richmond’s 27-0 win over William & Mary. The linebacker was part of a Spiders’ defense that held the nation’s 4
th-ranked rushing attack to 64 yards and 164 yards overall while recording the first shutout against their rival since 1973.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Sean O’Haire, Fr., PK, Richmond (Kildare, Ireland/St. Mary’s)
O’Haire booted two field goals and three extra points in Richmond’s 27-0 victory over William & Mary. The freshman got the Spiders on the board with a career-long 50-yard field goal, which tied for the 7
th-longest in program history, and added a 30-yarder in the fourth quarter. O’Haire was 9-for-9 on field goals this season.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Tra Neal, R-Fr., WR, Monmouth (Frederick, Md./Frederick)
Neal contributed touchdowns receiving and passing in Monmouth’s 55-47 win at Stony Brook. The redshirt freshman had three catches for a career-high 94 yards, including a 51-yard TD grab in the first quarter. He then sealed the victory by throwing a 40-yard TD pass on a gadget play to Jack Neri with 3:07 remaining.
