RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 2, 2024) – Elon earned the CAA men’s soccer regular season title with a win on Saturday night, while Drexel, Monmouth, Hofstra, Charleston and UNCW round out the field for the six-team CAA Men’s Soccer Championship that begins on Thursday.
The Phoenix (10-6-1, 6-2) and Dragons (9-5-2, 5-2-1) earned the No.1 and No. 2 seeds respectively, after posting wins on the final day of the season. The two teams receive a bye to the semifinals of the tournament and will host first round and semifinal games.
Monmouth (8-2-5, 4-1-3) is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed UNCW (5-8-4, 4-4) on Thursday at Drexel, while Hofstra (11-4-2, 5-3) earned the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Charleston (10-5-2, 4-2-2) at Elon.
With three spots on the line entering the final day of action, Drexel, Hofstra, and UNCW made the most of their opportunities. Drexel started the day in fourth place, and after an emphatic 5-1 win over already qualified Charleston, jumped to second place and earned a bye. Hofstra’s 4-0 win over Delaware propelled it to third in the standings, but they lost the tiebreaker to Monmouth after a setback to the Hawks earlier in the season.
The winners of Thursday’s contests will play the host schools in games on Sunday. Semifinal winners will meet the following weekend on a day and time to be determined based on the host institution’s venue availability. All five games of the Championship can be seen on FloFC.
