CAA Men’s Soccer Championship Kicks off Thursday

ELON, N.C. and PHILADELPHIA Pa. (Nov. 6, 2024) – Charleston takes on Hofstra, and Monmouth plays UNCW in the First Round of the 2024 CAA Men’s Soccer Championship, which kicks off on Thursday from neutral sites.
Monmouth (8-2-5, 4-1-3) is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed UNCW (5-8-4, 4-4) at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Drexel, while Hofstra (11-4-2, 5-3) earned the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Charleston (10-5-2, 4-2-2) at 6 p.m. at Elon.
UNCW and Monmouth faced off on Oct. 26, with the Seahawks picking up a 3-0 victory that helped them secure a spot in the tournament. Monmouth features the CAA’s top-ranked goalkeeper in Eryk Dymora, who has a 0.73 GAA with eight shutouts. UNCW counters with a balanced offensive attack topped by Josef Hefele with four goals. The winner of this game will take on No.2 Drexel on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Dragons lost to UNCW on Sept. 21 by a score of 2-1 and didn’t face Monmouth.
Most recently meeting on Oct. 26, Charleston defeated Hofstra 3-1 to clinch a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2017. The Cougars and Pride are two of the top offensive teams in the conference, both having scored 35 goals. Leonardo D’Ambrosio has nine goals and seven assists for CofC, while Jacob Woznicki has eight goals and four assists for Hofstra. The winner of this matchup will face No.1 Elon on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Phoenix suffered a 2-1 loss to Hofstra on Sept. 28, in what was the first match between ranked CAA programs since 2021. Elon and UNCW didn’t play in the regular season.
Semifinal winners will meet for the CAA championship on November 16 or 17 based on the host institution’s venue availability. All five games of the Championship can be seen on FloFC.
